About Me
Kevin Swanson was born and raised in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and resides in the small town of Ishpeming with his wife Heather, and near his three children Khora, Otto and Lilly.
Kevin recently joined us before concluding a long career in natural resources as a Wildlife
Biologist and Forester, holding a Bachelors in Biology/Ecology from Northern Michigan
University and a Masters in Forestry/Forest Soils from Michigan Technological University.
Kevin was employed by the Department of Environmental Quality and then by the Department
of Natural Resources for a total of 20 years. During his final five years with the Michigan DNR,
Kevin served as the Large Carnivore Specialist, leading management and habitat work for
Michigan's wolf, bear and cougar programs.
Kevin has an ideal understanding of wildlife habitat, wetlands, soils and forest management
throughout Michigan and enjoys nothing more than using that expertise to help private
landowners market their property. Kevin also worked as the Director of Forestry for The
Nature Conservancy in Michigan for three years after his tenure with state government.
He is also very interested in residential and commercial real estate and has invested in a short-
term rental and a small business here in the Upper Peninsula. Kevin's passion for natural
resources is charged by his family's rustic camp and the vast wilderness that surrounds it, he
greatly enjoys hunting, brook trout fishing in wild areas, mushroom foraging and most
importantly, his family.
